Apple A7, iPhone 5S ile piyasaya sürülen üst sýnýf ARM sistem çipi. iPad Air'de de kullanýlmakta. 65 Bir ARMv8 ISA kullanan ilk ARM sistem çiplerinden biri. Ýki iþlemci çekirdeði 1.3GHz (iPad Air: 1.4GHz) saat hýzýna sahip ve Apple'ýn Cyclone mimarisi tabanlý. Dahasý çip ayný zamanda PowerVR Series 6 (Rogue) G6430 grafik kartý ve 2x 32-Bit LPDDR3 bellek kontrolörüne sahip.

Mimari

Cyclone, Swift mimarisinin halefi. Yeni ARMv8 ISA sayesinde çip AES ve SHA gibi birçok kriptografi uzantýsýyla gelmekte ve geliþtirilmiþ SIMD komutlarý mevcut. Daha geniþ L1 tampon bellek ve geliþtirmelerle saat hýzý baþýna performans %50 kadar artmýþ. Daha büyük performans kazançlarý 64-bit yazýlým kullanýldýðýnda edinmek mümkün.

Performans

Düþük saat hýzý ve sadece 2 iþlemci çekirdeðinin olmasýna karþýn Apple A7, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 gibi diðer üst sýnýf sistem çipleri ile rekabet edebiliyor. Kötü paralelleþtirmenin yapýldýðý testlerder A7 tüm ARM rakiplerini geçip AMD A4-5000 veya Intel Atom Z3770 ile ayný seviyeye gelebiliyor.

Grafikler

Sistem çipi PowerVR Series 6 (Rogue) G6430 grafik kartýna sahip. Grafik kartý SGX543MP3ê kýyasla 2 kattan daha fazla iþlem gücü sunmakta ve ilk defa OpenGL ES 3.0 desteði ile gelmekte. Kesin saat hýzý henüz belirtilmese de yaklaþýk 400 MHz olmasý ve 100 GFLOPS'dan fazlasýný sunduðunu söyleyebiliriz. Diðer mobil grafik çözümleri ile kýyaslandýðýnda Snapdragon 800 / Adreno 330 seviyesinde olduðunu belirtmekte fayda var. Bu sayede en çok performans gerektiren iOS oyunlarý bile oynanabilir.

Güç tüketimi

A7, Apple iPhone 5S de bulunmakta ve düþük batarya kapasitesine raðmen oldukça uzun bir batarya kullanýmý sunmakta. Çip, Samsung tarafýndan 28nm HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) ile üretilmekte ve maksimum güç tüketimi 2-3Wattdan daha az olmasý tahmin ediliyor. iPad Air de ise bunun biraz daha yüksek olmasý beklenebilir.
