Indeed, ASUS has done a really nice job in designing the most attractive netbooks on shelves today, and the best part is that you don't have to pay more than $350 (at least at Best Buy) for those premium designs, as the company has been known to do in the past. In the end, both the 1018P and 1015PE are very solid choices, though if you're looking for a netbook that lasts longer on a charge we have to recommend the Toshiba Mini NB305 or the Eee PC 1005PE.

And while they keep the price low, the relatively slow hard drive and small amount of memory don’t let the Eee PC 1015PEM shine the way we’d expect it to, so it doesn’t break out of the netbook mould. If we were being picky we'd say it's a little heavier than we expected and we don't love the keyboard, the wrist rest or the sharp edges of the indicator lights scratching at our wrists. But these are quibbles; it's great to see USB 3 on a netbook, the battery life is very good and at this price the combination is great value.

Like the MSI Wind U160DX, as it can't claim an original configuration, this 10.1 inch is counting on an unusual design and colours to set itself apart on the netbook market. While the 1015PW won't revolutionise netbooks in general or the Eee PC range, at least it won't disgrace itself either. It uses tried and tested components and adds a touch of fantasy.

The ASUS 1015PX has a good design, is pretty much loaded in terms of features and performs as good as any average netbook. However, it deserves to be called value for money because at Rs. 12,999, the netbook is priced a lot lower than the rest of these netbooks. There’s a good Rs. 7,000 - 10,000 difference if you compare to any of the netbooks done before. One thing for sure is that it’s not perfect, but is good value for money. If you’re looking for an expert in performance, the Dell M101z will be a better choice, but in terms of a good budget netbook, the 1015PX is up there.

Even at this price, however, the 1015b is tough to recommend. The number one concern is usability; it is simply not there. The small screen and its low resolution, the limited functionality of Windows 7 Starter Edition, and the exceptionally sluggish performance of the AMD C-30 processor and 1GB of RAM make computing a frustrating experience. The keyboard is easy to type on but rattles; the touchpad’s buttons are too loud; the build quality could be better; lastly, the small fan makes too much noise. Spending another $50-150 can buy much-needed improvements in all of the areas mentioned above. Unless price is a paramount concern, there are better choices out there.

Asus: ASUSTEK Bilgisayar anonym şirketi Tayvan asıllı uluslararası bir şirket olup; anakart, grafik kartları, optic sürücüler, PDAlar, bilgisayar monitörleri, notebooklar, serverlar, network ürünleri, bilgisayar kasa ve bileşenleri üretmektedir. Şirketin 2007 gelirleri 6.9 milyar dolar olarak açıklanmıştır. ASUS aynı zamanda diğer üreticiler için bileşenlerde üretmektedir. 2008 yılında Eee PC netbook dünyasında büyük bir patlama gerçekleştirmiştir.
Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Ofis, internet, şekil düzenleme ve video editleme gibi işlemler herhangi bir kısıtlama olmadan bu grafik kartları ile yapılabilir.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Dahili (paylaşımlı bellekli) Intel Atom N4xx serisi işlemcilerde kullanılan grafik kartı. Eski GMA 950lere nazaran biraz daha hızlı ve bu yüzden 3D oyunlar veya HD videolar için uygun değil (sadece MPEG2 desteği mevcut)

ATI Radeon HD 4200: AMD ATI (Mobility) Radeon HD 4200 RS880M çipseti üzerine yapılandırılmış dahili bir ekran kartı. 3400 grafik çekirdeği üzerine kurgulanan ve UVD 2 video motoruna sahip bir kart. (Eş zamanlı iki HD akımının işlenmesi mümkün).
HD 3200 ile kıyaslanıldığında, 4200 DirectX 10.1 desteğine ve UVD2 video işleyicisine sahip.
AMD Radeon HD 6250: Ontario serisi netbook işlemciler entegre grafik kartı. UVD3 video decoder ile gelmekte.

Intel Atom:
Intel Atom serisi 64-Bit bir işlemci olup UMPC ve MID türü gibi küçük notebooklar için ucuz bir işlemci alternatifidir. Yeni mimarinin özelliği “in order” uygulamasını kullanması. Böylece transistor sayısı azaltılıp, daha ucuz bir üretim mümkün.
N450: GMA 3150 GPU ve dahili bellek kontrolörüne sahip Netbooklar için üretilen Intel Atom serisi işlemci. Sistem performansı Atom N280 / GMA 950 kombinasyonundan sadece biraz daha hızlı.
N475: DDR3 bellek kontrolörlü, GMA 3150 grafik kartına sahip gelecek nesil Atom işlemci. İşlemcinin performansı şu anki 1.86 GHz Atom Z450’den biraz daha hızlı olacaktır.
N550: Sadece 8.5 Watt güç tüketimi olan Dual Core Atom işlemci. 1.5 GHz gibi düşük saat hızından ötürü bazen N465 Atom işlemciden bile daha yavaş.
N570: Atom 550’den biraz daha yüksek saat hızına sahip, dual core Atom işlemci. Bu yönünden ötürü performansı CULV işlemcilerden geride kalmakta.
AMD V-Series:
V105: Intel Atom islemcilerin rakibi, yavas, tek çekirdekli AMD islemci. 1.6GHz atom ile kiyaslanildiginda V105 biraz daha hizli.
AMD C-Series:
C-50: Dahili grafik kartına sahip, dual core, düşük güç tüketimli işlemci. Düşük saat hızından ötürü işlemci bir Atom işlemci kadar hızlı olsa da, daha iyi bir dahili grafik kartı ile gelmekte.
C-30: Tek çekirdekli, düsük güç tüketimli, dahili grafik kartina sahip islemci. Düsük saat hizindan ötürü performansi tek çekirdekli Atom islemciden daha kötü, ancak dahili grafik karti HD video destegi vermekte.
10.1: Notebook, subnotebooklar için oldukça küçük ve nadir karşılaşılan ekran formatına sahip. Bu format oldukça nadiren kullanılmakta.
Avantajı ise subnotebookun küçük tutulup kolayca taşınabilmesi. Dahası küçük boyutlar daha az enerjiye ihtiyaç duydukları için batarya ömrü uzamakta ve dolayısıyla mobilitede artmakta. Dezavantajı ise yazıları okumak gözler için yorucu olabilmekte. Yüksek çözünürlükler ise pek kullanılamamakta.

Sınıfınınfen hafif subnotebooklarından biri ve taşınması gerçekten çok kolay. Bu hafiflikte bir laptop bulmaktan gerçekten çok zor. 7 – 9 inç ekran boyutu bu sınıf için ideal.
1.3 kg:
Bu subnotebook tüm notebooklar arasında en hafiflerinden ve kolayca taşınabilir. Daha hafif çok az laptop bulunmakta. 10 inçlik ekran boyutu bu ağırlık sınıfı için uygun.
