The Lifebook U2010 occupies an interesting space in the laptop spectrum. It’s smaller than a netbook, but doesn’t have the bargain-basement pricetag that’s made them such a rip-roaring success. Extra features like the tablet PC design and built-in GPS and FM transmitter make it slightly more appealing, but we’re not sure these are worth paying the extra premium for – especially when you can get a high-performance notebook for the same money.

  With a cramped screen and keyboard, mobile broadband, GPS, and unbearably tinny sound from a single underpowered speaker, on paper the Fujitsu Lifebook U820 is more of an oversize smartphone than an undersize computing device. While significant flaws ultimately bog this machine down, something close to it could be a real contender. Drop the mobile broadband and GPS while giving users an extra inch of room to manoeuvre, and - performance issues aside - the Fujitsu Lifebook U820 could become a palatable PC in a neat little package.

Obviously, a 5.6" display miniature Windows PC is a niche item. If you need a Windows computer most everywhere you go, the Fujitsu U820's light weight and small size are easy on the back and it's so small it doesn't scream "steal me" like a full size notebook. the U820 is capable of MS Office work, email, web and all manner of lightweight tasks. Just don't expect desktop replacement performance-- in fact, don't expect to use it as a portable video player either. The market has changed since the U810 came out in 2007 and now the U820 faces stiff competition from the OQO model 02+ and the Sony Vaio P. It's no longer considerably cheaper than other makes and the OQO is even more portable while the Vaio P has a very usable touch-typeable keyboard, wider screen, integrated EVDO Rev. A and drop dead good looks. What the Fujitsu U820 does offer is extreme battery life (the Vaio P with an extended battery falls an hour short of the U820) and a familiar notebook PC design.

This tiny convertible tablet features GPS and good battery life for users on the go. A truly unique hybrid, the Fujitsu LifeBook U820 combines the components and performance of a netbook with the features and starting price ($1,049) of an ultraportable tablet, all in a remarkably minuscule package. The Fujitsu LifeBook U820’s awkward keyboard and poky performance—not to mention its $1,049 starting price—will limit its appeal. However, its compact case and bright screen are marvels, and its thorough feature set will prove useful to frequent business travelers and others who want an extremely portable tablet to use as a secondary computer and GPS navigation device.

The proliferation of netbooks and even smartphones has all but made handheld PCs like the Sony VAIO VGN-UX180P and the OQO model 02 obsolete. Their downfall is that they're expensive, severely underpowered, and have cramped, uncomfortable keyboards. The U820's improvements—new keyboard layout, GPS, and a higher screen resolution—aren't enough to kick-start the handheld PC category.

Fujitsu-Siemens: Fujitsu, 1935 yılında kurulmuş olup Klima, bilgisayarlar, telekominikasyon hizmetleri ve servisleri alanında uzmanlaşmış Japon asıllı merkezi Tokyo’da bulunan bir firmadır. Fujitsu yaklaşık 160.000 kişiye iş imkanı sağlarken 500 alt şirkete sahiptir. Siemens AG ile ortaklık ise 1999 yılında Fujitsu Siemens Computer adı altında Avrupanın en geniş IT donanım tedarikçilerinden biri olarak gerçekleştirildi. Her iki firmada yüzde 50 hisse payına sahip. 2009 yılında ise bu ortaklık bozuldu. Gelecekte Fujitsu-Siemens markası altında laptop satışı yapılmayacak, ürünler sadece Fujitsu adı altında temin edilebilecek.

FSC İnceleme

Bu tür grafik kaetları oyunlar için pek ideal değil. Eğer bir oyunu çalıştıracak olurlarsa ya grafiksel hatalarla ya da düşük frame oranlarıyla çalıştırabilirler. Oyuncular için uygun değiller. Ofis ve internet ise oyunların aksine bu GPU lar için sorun değil.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: UL11l, US15L ve US15W çipsetlerinde dahili (onboard) olarak lisanslı PowerVR SGX çekirdeği ile kullanılan grafik çözümü. DirectX 10.1 desteği mevcut ama düşük saat hızı değerlerinden ötürü rates (100-200 MHz UL11L - US15) ve sadece 4 shader bulunmasından dolayı 3D oyunlar için uygun bir kart değil. Dahili video işleyici HD videoların işlenmesine yardımcı olmakta (MPEG2, VC-1, AVC).

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Ofis, internet, şekil düzenleme ve video editleme gibi işlemler herhangi bir kısıtlama olmadan bu grafik kartları ile yapılabilir.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 ( aynı zamanda GMA 950 olarakta bilinir) Intelin 915 GM chipset’i için ürettiği onboard entegre grafik kartı modeli. GMA 900’ün saat hızı arttırılmış versiyonu ve donanımsal hesaplamaları (Transform ve Lightning) desteklememekte ( bazı oyunlar için gerekli özellik).

Intel Atom:

Intel Atom serisi 64-Bit bir işlemci olup UMPC ve MID türü gibi küçük notebooklar için ucuz bir işlemci alternatifidir. Yeni mimarinin özelliği “in order” uygulamasını kullanması. Böylece transistor sayısı azaltılıp, daha ucuz bir üretim mümkün.

Z530: Atom N270’in daha çok güç tasarrufu ve saallaştırma desteği eklenmiş hali. Performans N270 ile aynı bu yüzden sadece basit uygulamalar için ideal.

Intel Mobile A:

5.6: Şu ana kadar subnotebooklar için kullanılan en küçük ekran formatı. Bu boyutta çok fazla model bulunmamakta. Uzun süre bu boyutta bir ekranla çalışmak pek rahat olmayabilir. Boyutun tasarlanım amacı dışarda kullanım için.

Avantajı ise subnotebookun küçük tutulup kolayca taşınabilmesi. Dahası küçük boyutlar daha az enerjiye ihtiyaç duydukları için batarya ömrü uzamakta ve dolayısıyla mobilitede artmakta. Dezavantajı ise yazıları okumak gözler için yorucu olabilmekte. Yüksek çözünürlükler ise pek kullanılamamakta.

Sınıfınınfen hafif subnotebooklarından biri ve taşınması gerçekten çok kolay. Bu hafiflikte bir laptop bulmaktan gerçekten çok zor. 7 – 9 inç ekran boyutu bu sınıf için ideal.
