Gateway continues to offer some of the best bang-for-your-buck retail laptops. The NV7802u is a fine example: It's a 17-inch wide-screen model with a well rounded port assortment and decent horsepower supplied by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of DDR memory. A large-screen laptop with very good performance, the Gateway NV7802u is an attractive choice for home or office.

Remember the Gateway NV7915u? Back in our Spring 2010 retail roundup of laptops, the budget-priced 17-incher won our Best of Budget category, and also received an Editors' Choice recommendation. The Gateway NV7901u has a large screen, a Core i5 processor and very good graphics at a reasonable price, but leaving Blu-ray out of the package might be a deal-breaker for some.

Gateway's NV5929u is certainly a good value for those looking at a higher performance general purpose system. It is probably one of the only laptops to come equipped with an Intel Core i5 class mobile processor with Turbo Boost for under $600. With that it mind, the system does have a number of quirks such as a display with limited viewing angles and an unusual keyboard and trackpad design that can make it difficult to use in some situations.

Gateway's NV570P04u laptop really needs to be updated as the system feels very dated even though it does feature a touchscreen display. While it is relatively thin at just under 1.2-inches thick, it is still a fairly heavy system weight close to six pounds. Even with its weight, the system still exhibited a bit more flex than would have been desired.

AOL, Gateway’in online bileşeni olan Gateway.net’I 1999 yılında satın aldı. Acer, Gateway için alım işlemlerini 2007 yılında 710 milyon dolarla tamamladı. Gateway reviews

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GM45 çipsetine (Montevina) kurulmuş, onboard (paylaşımlı) grafik kartı. 2 adet daha fazla shadera sahip olması ve daha yüksek saat hızından ötürü GMA X3100 den oldukça hızlı. Yinede oyuncular için (DirectX 10 oyunları oynanamaz, oynansa bile çok düşük detaylarda) önerilebilir olduğu söylenemez. Dahili video işlemcisi, düşük hızlı işlemcilere HD video decode (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) işlemleri sırasında yardımcı olarak Blu-Ray medyaların akıcı şekilde oynatılmasını sağlıyor.

NVIDIA GeForce 310M: GeForce 310M, GeForce G210M serisinin yeni versiyonu ve benzer saat hızı ile beraber aynı çip üzerine kurulmuş (shader hızı +30MHz ile 1530MHz).

ATI Radeon HD 4250:

Dahili (paylaşımlı bellek) grafik kartı. Avivo HD desteği sunmakta. Teknik olarak HD4200’ün saat hızı arttırılmış hali.

Yeni gelecek Ivy Bridge (Core ix-3xxx) işlemcilerde kullanılacak dahili grafik kartı. HD 2500, GT2 HD Grpahics 4000 ile kıyaslandığında daha yavaş kalmakta.

Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650: 15-20 Watt aralığında güç tüketiminde bulunan Eyevision destekli orta sınıf DirectX 11 uyumlu grafik kartı.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.

Core 2 Duo Laptop işlemcileri masa üstü işlemcilerle benzer. Sadece daha düşük voltaj ile çalışmakta (0.95 Volt - 1188 Volt) ve daha düşük frontside bus saat hızına sahip (1066 MHz karşı 667 MHz). Aynı hıza sahip olsalarda laptop Core 2 Duo işlemcileri masa üstü versiyonlarına oranla daha düşük frontside bus ve yavaş hard disklerinden ötürü 20 - 25% daha yavaş.
