Manufacturers can try to create a smaller, thinner chassis; they can shoot for better performance; or they can try to keep costs down. The catch is that you can only fully get two of those three areas right it seems. The 5310m definitely nails the high-quality build with a slim and light chassis.

Apart from the notebook’s slight weight issue and missing optical drive, the 5310m seems like the perfect step up from the mini netbook models. Frankly speaking, its design and fast system boot-up alone are enough to make anybody fall head over heels with it. If you have the dough (RM3,299 to be exact) and are seriously looking for the perfect travelling companion, you should really give the ProBook 5310m a serious look.

EN→TROverall, the ProBook 5310m is sort of a big deal. HP totally hit the mark with the hardware and they did it for $899, a reasonable price for a system that performs as well as this one and still manages 6+ hours of battery life. If you don’t need an optical drive or discrete graphics this is a computer to keep your eye on, whether you need it for business or not. The biggest problem is that it’s crammed in the stack of ProBooks, which tend to be pretty average, so not many buyers will probably ever happen upon it.

Conservative IT managers, particularly in large enterprises, have yet to realize how easy it is to stifle innovation by demanding so many hardware functions. Sometimes, less means more. The 5310m sheds the optical drive and VGA port, which I consider playing-it-safe parts that would have otherwise made the design thick and conservative-looking. The HP ProBook 5310m is one of the sleekest, thinnest SMB laptops in the market, and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GM45 çipsetine (Montevina) kurulmuş, onboard (paylaşımlı) grafik kartı. 2 adet daha fazla shadera sahip olması ve daha yüksek saat hızından ötürü GMA X3100 den oldukça hızlı. Yinede oyuncular için (DirectX 10 oyunları oynanamaz, oynansa bile çok düşük detaylarda) önerilebilir olduğu söylenemez. Dahili video işlemcisi, düşük hızlı işlemcilere HD video decode (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) işlemleri sırasında yardımcı olarak Blu-Ray medyaların akıcı şekilde oynatılmasını sağlıyor.
Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.
Core 2 Duo Laptop işlemcileri masa üstü işlemcilerle benzer. Sadece daha düşük voltaj ile çalışmakta (0.95 Volt - 1188 Volt) ve daha düşük frontside bus saat hızına sahip (1066 MHz karşı 667 MHz). Aynı hıza sahip olsalarda laptop Core 2 Duo işlemcileri masa üstü versiyonlarına oranla daha düşük frontside bus ve yavaş hard disklerinden ötürü 20 - 25% daha yavaş.
