Radeon HD 7970M sadece bir yıl öncesine kadar Intel modelleri ile yarışırken Radeon HD 8970M modelini teste tabii tutuyoruz. AMD fiyat/performans puanlarını kazanacak mı yoksa yine sürücü sorunları ile mı karşılaşacak? Performansın dışında kartın özellikleri, sıcaklık değeleri ve güç tüketimini de inceliyoruz.

Test system

One, Radeon HD 8970M grafik kartını kullanımımıza sunan ilk üreticilerden biri. 17 inç Clevo barebone içinde grafik kartı yüksek skorlar peşinde. DirectX 11 modeli 8 GB DDR3 RAM ve Core i7-4700MQ işlemciye sahip.

One K73-3N (Clevo P170SM)

Rekabeti olabildiğinde adil yapabilmek adına farklı ölçümler için Radeon HD 8970M grafik kartını GeForce GTX 770M ve GTX 780M ile değiştirdik. Bu sayede tüm testler ve emisyon değerleri karşılaştırılabilir oldu.

System information

Özellikler

Strictly speaking, AMD's new high-end graphics card is only a faster version of the Radeon HD 7970M, which is also based on the GCN architecture. Apart from the core clock (900 vs. 850 MHz) and the memory clock (1250 vs. 1200 MHz) most of the specs are identical.

1280 shader units, 2.8 billion transistors, and a 256-bit interface hint at excellent performance. We feel doubling the RAM (4096 vs. 2048 MB GDDR5) was not necessary. Apparently, AMD wants to stand up to the GTX 780M in marketing. Nvidia's top model also features a memory bandwidth of 160 GB/s.

Enduro

Enduro adındaki dahili ve harici grafik kartları arası değişimi sağlayan sistem HD 7970M'den bu yana oldukça gelişmiş. AMD sadece performansı arttırmakla kalmayıp yeni fonksiyonlar da eklemiş.

Catalyst Control merkezindeki özel menüler sayesinde kişisel ayarlamalar yapmak mümkün.

Nvidia'nın Optimus teknolojisi halen Enduro'ya kıyasla daha gelişmiş. Ancak bu AMD grafik kartını almanıza bir engel değil.

Ancak kart değişimi bazen performans düşüşüsne sebep olabilmekte. Kısaca Nvidia grafik kartları bu noktada daha iyi performans sunmakta.

Sürücü

Halen AMD'nin resmi sürücülerini tavsiye etmiyoruz. 13.4 ve 13.6 Beta Catalyst versiyonları 8000 serisi için tasarlanmış olmasına karşın, kurulum hata göstermemesine rağmen çeşitli sorunlarla karşılaştık.

Bazı oyun ve testlerin çalışmamasının yanı sıra, birçoğu da takılı kalmakta ve sinir bozucu grafik hataları gözlemlenebilmekte.

Bunun Clevo Barebone kaynaklı mı yoksa AMD tabanlı mı olduğunu şu an için söyleyemiyoruz. Clevo sürücüsü ile Radeon HD 8970M neredeyse hatasız çalışmakta. Testlerimizde tek bir sistem çökmesi veya mavi ekran ile karşılaşmadık.

Sentetik testler

Sentetik testlerde grafik kartı harika bir sonuç vermekte. Genellikle daha pahalı olan GeForce 770M, AMD'ye karşı duramıyor. Ancak lider GeForce GTX 780M

Kartın fiyatına bakarak konuşacak olursak, performans harika.

Oyun performansı

Tüm oyunları özetlemek gerekirse: Radeon HD 8970M aradaki 300 Euroluk fiyat farkına karşın GeForce GTX 770M grafik kartına göre %20 daha hızlı. GTX 780M ile arasındaki fark ise gayet küçük. Bizde %15lik performans farkı satın almayı haklı kılmıyor. Ancak gelecek sürücü versiyonları performans farklılıklarını değiştirebilir. Radeon HD 7970M ve GeForce GTX 680M gibi eski modeller ise %10 kadar daha yavaş.

Laptop üreticisi fan kontrolüne çok emek harcamayıp, sıcaklığa odaklanmış. One K73-3N ister GTX 770M, HD 8970M veya GTX 780M kullansın, ses üretimi aynı. Ancak diğer notebooklarda bu durum değişecektir.

Sıcaklık

Sıcaklık değerlerinde ise farklar büyük. Radeon HD 8970M 72 derece ile GeForce GTX 770M'in 67 derecesine yakın. Ancak GeForce GTX 780M'in 86 derecesi bizi biraz endişelendiriyor. Bekleme modunda ise sıcaklık değerleri 38 ile 41 derece arlığında. Eğer GPU-Z doğru ise Nvidia grafik kartları AMD'ye kıyasla daha da düşük sıcaklıklara sahip.

Güç tüketimi

Güç tüketiminde ne AMD ne de Nvidia kazanıyor. Grafik kartı değişimi sayesinde K73-3N her bir grafik kartı ile bekleme modunda 24-25 Watt gibi bir güce ihtiyaç duymakta. Yoğun kullanımda ise güç tüketimi 138 Watt ile GeForce GTX 770M ve GTX 780M aralığında kalıyor.

Radeon HD 8970M iyi bir üst sınıf kart olduğunu kanıtlıyor. Eğer sorunsuz bir sürücü kullanırsanız, DirectX 11 sorunsuz çalışmakta. Grafik kartı değiştirme halen Nvidia'nınki kadar iyi çalışmasa da, deneyimli oyuncular bu konunun üstesinden gelecektir.

Fiyat/performans oranı özellikle etkileyici. Radeon HD 7970M gibi bu yeni kartta fiyatı için gayet iyi bir performans sunmakta. Nvidia kesinlikle modellerinin fiyatlarını gözden geçirmeli. Özellikle GeForce GTX 770M ve GeForce GTX 780M testlerinin sonucuna bakıldığında, fiyat/performansın makul olmadığını görüyoruz.

Genel olarak Radeon HD 8970M'in en makul üst sınıf kart olduğu kanaatindeyiz. En iyi grafik kartını kimin ürettiği göreceli olsa da, şu kesin: AMD kaotik bir lansmanı kaldıramaz.
