For just around $650, the system offers some solid performance with the new Core i3-370M processor and 4GB of DDR3 memory. Where Acer falls behind others though is in the number of trialware applications installed that impact the performance.

EN→TRFor $549, the Acer Aspire 5742-6814 is a pretty good value. You get a somewhat plain but fairly portable 15-inch design, a spacious keyboard, and strong dual-core performance, all for just a little bit more than the cost of an iPad. Still, we wish the audio and battery life were better. For just $20 more, you can get a similarly configured HP G62t with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5740 graphics. And, if you want to splurge a little, the $629 Samsung SF510 has a very distinctive design that makes it look far more expensive. Still, you can't quibble with what the Aspire 5742 offers, which is more than enough power for everyday computing.

All up this notebook’s only downsides are the small amount of RAM and tiny directional keys, while the pros are numerous. The Acer Aspire 5742 looks and performs great, and for such a low price you really can’t go wrong.

Granted, you don't get as robust feature set and as many wireless features as you do with the HP Pavilion dv6-6013cl (which has both WiDi2 and WiMAX), and the AS5742-6811 uses first-generation Core i technology, whereas the HP dv6-6013cl touts the newer Sandy Bridge platform. That aside, when it comes to raw computing power the Acer Aspire AS5742-6811 offers the greatbang for your buck in a budget laptop.

Pentium P6100, Arrandale çekirdeği tabanlı giriş seviyesi laptop işlemcisi. Celeron P4600 ile kıyaslanıldığında P6100 biraz daha iyi bir performans sunmakta. Bunun sebebi de arttırılmış Level 3 Cache olarak gösterilebilir. Yine de VT-x bu işlemcide sunulmamakta.
P6200:
Pentium P6200 Arrandale çekirdeği tabanlı giriş seviyesi işlemci. i3-330M ile kıyaslanıldığında HyperThreding özelliğinden yoksun.
Intel Core i5:
480M:
Core i5-480M sadece 3MB Level 3 Cache kapasiteli, 2.66 ile 2.9 GHz (Turbo Modu) saat hızı aralığına sahip işlemci. Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı olarak işlenebilmekte. Dahili bir grafik kartı(GMA HD) ve DDR3 bellek kontrolörü pakete dahil edilmiş.
15.6: 15 inçlik ekran ve varyasyonları tüm notebooklar için bir standart olup tüm notebookların yarısından çoğunda kullanılmakta. 15.4 inçlerde 16:10 standart görüntü. Bir çok tarafından bu orta boyut formatın sevilmesinin sebebi: gözlerin yorulamaması, fazla enerji ihtiyacı duymaması ve laptopların daha kompakt tutulabilmesi.

Sınıfınınfen hafif subnotebooklarından biri ve taşınması gerçekten çok kolay. Bu hafiflikte bir laptop bulmaktan gerçekten çok zor. 7 – 9 inç ekran boyutu bu sınıf için ideal.
2.6 kg:
Bu notebook ortalama notebooklardan daha hafif. Subnotebooklara nazaran ise çok ağır. 14 inçlik ekran boyutu bu ağırlık sınıfı için uygun.
