The first word that comes to mind when you pick up HP’s 2530p is “solid.” From its heft, to its construction, to its scratch-resistant anodized aluminum display enclosure and palm rest, this notebook seems eminently rugged. HP claims that the 2530p has passed a battery of Mil-Spec tests including 26 drops from different angles at a distance of 30 inches, but we didn’t have the stomach to verify that. If you’re looking for an ultraportable solution that gets the job done and requires no babying, the HP 2530p is that product.

What’s worth knowing about the HP EliteBook 2530p is that HP set out to design a system that they could put head-to-head with the ThinkPad X200. Of course, this might not have been their explicit goal, but they effectively wanted a industry-leading enterprise-ready ultraportable with more than enough power, an all-day battery life, and a sturdy build. Then, for good measure, they threw in an optical drive, and in the case of our test model, an 80GB Intel SSD, to really set it apart. And, as you’ve probably ascertained, they were very successful–the EliteBook 2530p is best business ultraportable on the market right now. This is not to say that it is light years ahead of fine products like the X200 or the Toughbook W8 but right now a 2530p, properly outfitted to an individual user’s needs is almost impossible to beat.

If battery life ranks high on your list of business needs, the HP EliteBook 2530p won't disappoint.

Designed to withstand the rigors of everyday travel and then some, HP’s lightweight EliteBook 2530p is packed with business-friendly features and delivers outstanding productivity performance with over five hours of battery life. Its $2,499 price tag, however, may be too steep for some. With its brushed-aluminum lid and slender 3.1-pound frame, you wouldn’t think the 2530p is built to meet the U.S. Military specifications (MIL-STD 810F) for durability, but don’t let its sleek looks fool you; this is one tough notebook. Strong performance, long battery life, and durability make this EliteBook 2530p one of the hottest business notebooks around.

But, really, the lack of an easy way to control volume is not much of a drawback on an ultraportable. In all other ways the EliteBook lives up to its name. If you have the money, it has all the panache you could want in a light, fast, and easy-to-use portable.

The HP EliteBook 2530p is the best business-grade 12-inch notebook currently on the market. Despite a large number of business solutions from Dell and Lenovo in our office, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone on our staff who doesn't think the 2530p is currently the best all-around choice in the 12-inch form factor. If extreme portability, durability, and long battery life are important to you, the EliteBook 2530p makes an ideal choice. However, while it's fair to say the 2530p is "best in class" that doesn't mean it's perfect. The biggest potential criticism you can leverage against the EliteBook 2530p is the same problem every notebook in this class has to deal with: In order to provide long battery life and maintain low heat levels in such a small notebook you have to use low voltage or ultra-low voltage processors.

Built for road warriors, this 12-inch ultraportable offers a durable design and well over 6 hours of battery life. The HP EliteBook 2530p offers everything a road warrior could want in a notebook: a durable, sleek design, fast performance, extra long battery life, and mobile broadband. Although it may be too pricey and comparatively heavy for some ultraportable shoppers, the performance and protection is worth it for those who can afford it.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GM45 çipsetine (Montevina) kurulmuş, onboard (paylaşımlı) grafik kartı. 2 adet daha fazla shadera sahip olması ve daha yüksek saat hızından ötürü GMA X3100 den oldukça hızlı. Yinede oyuncular için (DirectX 10 oyunları oynanamaz, oynansa bile çok düşük detaylarda) önerilebilir olduğu söylenemez. Dahili video işlemcisi, düşük hızlı işlemcilere HD video decode (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) işlemleri sırasında yardımcı olarak Blu-Ray medyaların akıcı şekilde oynatılmasını sağlıyor.

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.

Core 2 Duo Laptop işlemcileri masa üstü işlemcilerle benzer. Sadece daha düşük voltaj ile çalışmakta (0.95 Volt - 1188 Volt) ve daha düşük frontside bus saat hızına sahip (1066 MHz karşı 667 MHz). Aynı hıza sahip olsalarda laptop Core 2 Duo işlemcileri masa üstü versiyonlarına oranla daha düşük frontside bus ve yavaş hard disklerinden ötürü 20 - 25% daha yavaş.
