Everything on the Ideapad is great except for the screen which I just felt was a mismatch for HD videos and great sound system. Aside from that, the Ideapad is a powerful and durable machine for entertainment and work. If you’re not into top-of-the-range performance desktop machine, the Ideapad could even make a nice replacement for your desktop.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 isn't exactly made for kids, but it sure can kick out the tunes. You can tell it was designed to be a sleek all-purpose laptop that knows how to get down to business and play around a little without costing a fortune (our review unit was $829 as of 2/26/09). Though the Y530 can't run modern games at a screaming pace, it still packs a decent amount of power for its sub-$1000 price tag. With the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530, "You get what you pay for" isn't a bad thing. The Y530 is a good laptop built for anyone who needs to work and to sneak in a little play time on the side. And, for under a thousand bucks, it is a solid counterpoint to Gateway's MC7803u series.

In Futuremark's PCMark Vantage test suite, the Lenovo Y530 performed quite well in comparison to the more powerful reference systems. In the CPU tests, with its 2.0GHz CPU, the Y530 fell in line just below the slightly faster 2.1GHz processors. The Y530 had its poorest showings in the memories and gaming tests. However, it held its own by shadowing the front runners in the Hard Disk Drive Test, Communications Test, Music Test, and TV and Movies Test. The Hitachi drive in the Lenovo Y530 proved to be a powerful addition for a 5,400 RPM drive and was surely a factor in the strong test results. The Y530's 15.4" screen, with its native resolution of 1280x800, was bright, and sharp, with good color reproduction and a quick response time.

At a price under $1000 the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 definitely covers your basic needs and looks pretty while doing so. It has some cool features like the ability to look at yourself every time you login or lock your computer - and isn’t too heavy or big to carry around. If you want a laptop for basic browsing and nice media displays this Laptop is worth the dough. If you want something that processes quickly and can handle a lot of computing this may not be the laptop for you. The 15.4 inch widescreen Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 is a fun, unique laptop that overall looks nice and has some fun features.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y530is a capable multimedia laptop with exceptional sound and a nice frameless display. But aside from adding an HDMI port, Lenovo has done little to address the problems that plagued this laptop’s predecessor.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 has a durable chassis and great sounding sound system, but could be improved in the graphics department. Limited to the NVIDIA 9300M dedicated graphics card which can be found in some netbooks, the Y530 doesn’t perform that well in games compared to other competing notebooks. For consumers the main use of the dedicated graphics would be for HD video decoding and digital audio out over HDMI for watching movies on your home television. For movies on the go the Y530 has a good surround sound system, which is a good step above what we usually see on most notebooks.

As a sub-$1,000 entertainment notebook, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 is a serious contender. The integrated Dolby sound system and subwoofer set it apart from the pack, and the Y530 offers significantly better performance than its predecessor. For the price, we prefer the Gateway MC Series. It’s not as portable, but it offers a bigger 16-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a more attractive design for $999. If you can live with its reflective screen and orange accents, however, the $949 Y530 is a solid mainstream laptop.

The IdeaPad Y530 has some amazing features to offer consumers in a budget laptop systems. It uses the Intel GM45 chipset that gives it some amazing features one wouldn't expect in a low cost PC such as speedy DDR3 memory, draft-n wireless support and newer integrated graphics. This would all be great if Lenovo didn't use an older 32-bit Intel Pentium Dual Core processor that limits the system to 32-bit software. If users can accept this slower processor, they do end up with a very feature packed laptop for the money.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GM45 çipsetine (Montevina) kurulmuş, onboard (paylaşımlı) grafik kartı. 2 adet daha fazla shadera sahip olması ve daha yüksek saat hızından ötürü GMA X3100 den oldukça hızlı. Yinede oyuncular için (DirectX 10 oyunları oynanamaz, oynansa bile çok düşük detaylarda) önerilebilir olduğu söylenemez. Dahili video işlemcisi, düşük hızlı işlemcilere HD video decode (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) işlemleri sırasında yardımcı olarak Blu-Ray medyaların akıcı şekilde oynatılmasını sağlıyor.

Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.

Intel Pentium Dual Core: Yonah çekirdeği olmasına rağmen, Pentium adının dönüşü oldu. Aslında çok iyi bir güç tüketimi oranıyla 2 çekirdekli bir işlemcinin uyumundan oluşmakta.

T3200:

Giriş seviyesi dual core işlemci. Eski merom çekirdeği ve küçük level 2 Cache sebebiyle düşük bir performans vermekte.

15.4": 15 inçlik ekran ve varyasyonları tüm notebooklar için bir standart olup tüm notebookların yarısından çoğunda kullanılmakta. 15.4 inçlerde 16:10 standart görüntü. Bir çok tarafından bu orta boyut formatın sevilmesinin sebebi: gözlerin yorulamaması, fazla enerji ihtiyacı duymaması ve laptopların daha kompakt tutulabilmesi.
