If there is one particular failing that the MSI Wind U160 has as a netbook, it is that it only comes with 1GB RAM, meaning you'll be wanting to upgrade almost as soon as you get it home (about £30). Otherwise there is little on offer to differentiate the MSI Wind U160 from other netbook rivals. But at the same time the Wind U160 doesn't do anything wrong. There are cheaper netbooks that offer almost identical performance if budget is a concern, but in a category where everything is much of a muchness, the long battery life and interesting design might appeal.

MSI Wind U160 is an option to consider if you want a netbook with a good hardware configuration and nice battery life. It is one of the best options available.

The single-core N450 has hyperthreading, therefore posing as being a dual-core model, which should provide an advantage in multi-core applications with the additional logical core. The integrated graphics is sufficient to display image only, while gaming and HD playback are way out of its league. If you’re planning to connect and external monitor, pay attention to the fact that the VGA is limited to a resolution of 1400x1050. Although it contains the least demanding Windows version, Windows 7 Starter, 1 GB DDR2 which this small guy contains will often be too little for comfortable use. A 250 GB HDD showcased outstanding performance, while the battery failed to live up to “15H+” sticker on the packaging. The 6-cell battery barely hit five hours in standard operating mode, while doubling that result under minimum load. Another problem might be the fact that the battery requires four hours to charge with the netbook off, which is more than many can afford.

We recommend the Wind U160 over the Asus Eee PC 1008P because of its lower price point and its extra RAM and hard drive space - unless you don't mind spending extra on the Eee PC 1008P's unique faux-reptilian skin exterior. Rs 23,999 is the quoted price, and at the outset we can say that it’s a bit expensive, especially considering the fact that there are cheaper options available. But there are few very well demarcated turfs of advantage here: one being a very strong battery life. Our Battery eater Pro Classic rating was about 6 hours, which is a great reading. On normal usage like browsing , 'MS officing' etc we received a battery life of 9 hours 45 minutes, a healthy rating for sure.

MSI aynı zamanda grafik kartları, barebone PCler, notebooklar, network ürünleri, serverlar, multimedia ürünlerde tasarlayıp üretmektedir. MSI diğer tüm tayvanlı bilgisayar üreticileri gibi ürünlerini OEM/ODM prensibi ile satmaktadır. Ürünlerini aynı zamanda dünya genelinde “MSI” adı altında satan firmanın MSI markalı notebooklarının global pazar payı düşüktür.

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Ofis, internet, şekil düzenleme ve video editleme gibi işlemler herhangi bir kısıtlama olmadan bu grafik kartları ile yapılabilir.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Dahili (paylaşımlı bellekli) Intel Atom N4xx serisi işlemcilerde kullanılan grafik kartı. Eski GMA 950lere nazaran biraz daha hızlı ve bu yüzden 3D oyunlar veya HD videolar için uygun değil (sadece MPEG2 desteği mevcut)

Intel Atom:

Intel Atom serisi 64-Bit bir işlemci olup UMPC ve MID türü gibi küçük notebooklar için ucuz bir işlemci alternatifidir. Yeni mimarinin özelliği “in order” uygulamasını kullanması. Böylece transistor sayısı azaltılıp, daha ucuz bir üretim mümkün.

N450: GMA 3150 GPU ve dahili bellek kontrolörüne sahip Netbooklar için üretilen Intel Atom serisi işlemci. Sistem performansı Atom N280 / GMA 950 kombinasyonundan sadece biraz daha hızlı.

N550: Sadece 8.5 Watt güç tüketimi olan Dual Core Atom işlemci. 1.5 GHz gibi düşük saat hızından ötürü bazen N465 Atom işlemciden bile daha yavaş.

Sınıfınınfen hafif subnotebooklarından biri ve taşınması gerçekten çok kolay. Bu hafiflikte bir laptop bulmaktan gerçekten çok zor. 7 – 9 inç ekran boyutu bu sınıf için ideal.

1.23 kg:

Bu subnotebook tüm notebooklar arasında en hafiflerinden ve kolayca taşınabilir. Daha hafif çok az laptop bulunmakta. 10 inçlik ekran boyutu bu ağırlık sınıfı için uygun.
