The Sony VAIO Z is one of the nicest 13-inch ultraportable notebooks currently on the market. Normally most systems in this category have some sort of flaw; slow CULV processor, limited screen resolution, limited storage options, or even a poor graphics card. None of this is the case with the VAIO Z, but it comes at a price. Right now the Z starts at $1,919 for a base configuration (128GB RAID0 SSD, i5 540M, 4GB RAM) and goes all the way up to $4,799 for a Signature Edition (512GB RAID0 SSD, i7 620M, 8GB RAM, 1080P panel). At close to $2,000 it is already double what you might expect to pay for a mobile gaming system. You get a lot of features for your money but it still comes down to what you want in your notebook. The VAIO Z has a slick design with a super thin screen, machined alloy keyboard tray with integrated Chiclet keyboard, and still has space to fit an optical drive. Build quality is a step above consumer notebooks and gets very close to business models. Sony doesn't hold anything back, so in a sense you do get perks with the pricetag. Overall the VAIO Z isn't for everyone, but it does fill a market; business executives who need to project an image to clients, college students with a large budget, and anyone else who wants a no-compromises notebook.

If you're looking for an uncompromising ultra, this is your ideal machine... as long as you don't mind shelling out!

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M: Nvidia GeForce GT 330M, GT230M grafik kartının yeni nesli ve GT240M’e oranla biraz daha yüksek saat hızına sahip (ama isimlendirilmeden anlaşıldığı kadarıyla GT230M’in güç tüketim özelliklerine sahip)

1. sınıf masa üstü kartları ile kıyaslanabilir performansa sahip laptop kartları. Yeni oyunlar biraz düşük detaylarda akıcı şekilde oynanabilir.

Intel Core i5:

520M: I7-640M ile kıyaslanıldığında i5-520M sadece 3 MB L3 Cache kapasitesibe ve 2.4 – 2.93 GHz aralığında saat hızına sahip. Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı olarak işlenebilmekte. GMA HD 3150 ile beraber DDR3 bellek kontrolörü de pakete dahil.

13.1": Bu format subnotebooklar için en büyük ve en sık karşılaşılan ekran boyutu. Avantajı ise subnotebookun küçük tutulup kolayca taşınabilmesi. Dahası küçük boyutlar daha az enerjiye ihtiyaç duydukları için batarya ömrü uzamakta ve dolayısıyla mobilitede artmakta. Dezavantajı ise yazıları okumak gözler için yorucu olabilmekte. Yüksek çözünürlükler ise pek kullanılamamakta.

1.388 kg: Bu subnotebook tüm notebooklar arasında en hafiflerinden ve kolayca taşınabilir. Daha hafif çok az laptop bulunmakta. 10 inçlik ekran boyutu bu ağırlık sınıfı için uygun.
