Though thicker and heavier than the fondleslab-norm the Slider makes a lot of sense if you intend to do any serious typing or are always looking for a way to prop your tablet up while watching a video, making a Skype video call or reading a book. It’s a bit of shame it has taken so long to make it to the UK market and that it’s rather expensive but it still makes sense for anyone who wants an Android tablet for productivity as much as fun.

The Asus Slider SL101 is a very likable Android Honeycomb tablet that deftly manages to be both tablet and proper laptop without compromising excessively in the process. The 17mm bulk is easily forgivable given the advantages a hardware keyboard brings, and even this doesn’t detract from its smart styling or above Android-average operation.

The Asus Eee Pad Slider's keyboard sets it apart from the handful of Android Honeycomb tablets that can only clearly be separated by a few minor aesthetic differences and connectivity tweaks. It's one of the most interesting Android tablets of the year and it's not just a design gimmick. The added size and weight of the keyboard will severely limit the audience for this device, unlike the more versatile Eee Pad Transformer. But if this kind of home-bound tablet is what you're after, the great screen, smooth performance and good execution of the unusual design makes it worth a round of applause. However, we can't help but wish it had arrived a few months earlier, now the Transformer Prime is nearing release.

The Eee Pad Slider would be brilliant if it somehow integrated a large and comfortable keyboard into a light and inexpensive tablet. What we get instead is a tablet with a rather mediocre built-in keyboard that isn't worth the significant bulk and weight that it adds. As a result, it's not very good either as a straight tablet or as a keyboard-equipped tablet. If you need a regular tablet, the Apple iPad 2 remains the better product. However, if you need a keyboard on a regular basis, the Eee Pad Transformer and its keyboard dock is better and cheaper than the Eee Pad Slider.

On paper, the ASUS Eee Pad Slider makes sense. All the instant-on flexibility of a tablet, with the convenience of a keyboard. Problem is, the biggest competition comes from under ASUS’ own roof, in the shape of the Eee Pad Transformer. That has a better keyboard, the choice over whether or not to use it, and considerably more battery life.

The Slider won’t give you the benefits of running Windows and all your usual programs on standard PC hardware, but it might offer a better balance of battery life and flexibility between work and play. Asus’ other tablet offering, the Eee Pad Transformer, is also a strong alternative because it lets you ditch the keyboard when it isn’t needed and carry just the tablet around, to save space and reduce weight. Still, at this price, you could get a pretty capable thin-and-light laptop—Intel-powered ultrabooks have already started hitting the market at around Rs. 50,000. The Eee Pad Slider is a unique device that bridges two worlds, but it’s hard to see it as the best choice for anyone, no matter whether they’re looking for a tool for work or a gadget for fun.

After the Eee Transformer got many favorable reviews and was named by many the best Honeycomb slate out there, another Asus 10 inch tablet, namely the Eee Pad Slider, will soon hit stores. NVIDIA GeForce ULP (Tegra 2):

Modele göre değişmekle beraber 300 - 400 MHz saat hızı aralığına sahip Tegra 3 SoC da kullanılan düşük voltajlı GPU.

Bu tür grafik kaetları oyunlar için pek ideal değil. Eğer bir oyunu çalıştıracak olurlarsa ya grafiksel hatalarla ya da düşük frame oranlarıyla çalıştırabilirler. Oyuncular için uygun değiller. Ofis ve internet ise oyunların aksine bu GPU lar için sorun değil.
