The value-priced Gateway T-6836 ($800 street) is a capable midsize laptop that can complete everyday computing tasks but can also handle more-processor-intensive jobs like photo editing. The Gateway T-6836 is a standard notebook that offers decent performance and features. However, there are other alternatives from Dell, HP, and Lenovo that offer more features (and flare) for around the same price.

Most budget-friendly midsize laptops feature 15.4-inch screens that, while good for watching movies, can be a burden to schlep around campus. For the truly mobile student, a system with a 14.1-inch screen will be slightly more portable but is still big enough to use as a primary computer. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100, Mobile Intel 965GM (500MHz çekirdek hızına sahip) ve 960GM (400MHz) çipine entegre edilmiş onboard bir kart (Merom için Core 2 mimarisi).

Bu tür grafik kaetları oyunlar için pek ideal değil. Eğer bir oyunu çalıştıracak olurlarsa ya grafiksel hatalarla ya da düşük frame oranlarıyla çalıştırabilirler. Oyuncular için uygun değiller. Ofis ve internet ise oyunların aksine bu GPU lar için sorun değil.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.
