The Studio 15 we received comes to a total of Rs. 48,700 with delivery. This machine isn't ergonomically the best out there. It's got souped up specs (except for the graphics chip) inside, enclosed in a what can be called in today's day and age a 'bulky' body. The main incentive to buy a Studio 15 is the option to upgrade to a Full HD screen and a Blu-ray drive. Otherwise for Rs. 50,000 you get the HP Pavilion DV6-3057tx, which comes with a higher-power  ATI Radeon 5650 chip. It has a Core i3 processor (although clocked at a similar 2.4 GHz speed, but no Turbo boost). But on the good side, it comes with that chiclet keyboard we like. Then there's also the Asus N61J, which has a potent NVIDIA GT325M graphics chip, and also pulls extra tricks like auto-graphics switching (NVIDIA Optimus) to save battery life, and USB 3.0 support. If you want something cheaper, there's always the Acer Aspire 5740G with the same Radeon 5650 graphics chip for a whole Rs. 10,000 less. The Studio 15 is a decent laptop overall, but there's nothing that stands out for us to go out and hoot about it. Especially after the Inspiron line drawing so close to the Studio, there's not much different between the two. The Studio series is in need of a refresh. If you're just looking for a typical big screened laptop to do your office work,  the Inspiron 15R should do just fine.

For the money, the Studio 15 is a very well equipped laptop and its performance scores are not to be sniffed at. It may not be the most portable of machines and its battery life is a little on the low side, but if you're happy to stay still and near mains power you won't be disappointed. Dell's Studio 15 can be characterised in two ways. Without the 1,440 x 900 it's a very good, but not quite outstanding, 15.4 inch notebook that has a strong but not dazzling design - not at least till you opt for the Mike Ming lid designs - and standard feature sets and pricing that are competitive but not outrageously so. With the 1,440 x 900 WLED display, however, you have a different proposition entirely. It's a feature that few can offer and given you can have it and not sacrifice too much in terms of specification or price over competing models, it helps elevate the Studio 15 to an award.

The build quality, range of customizable options, expandability, style, and price make this an excellent choice if you're in the market for a 15-inch notebook. Still, we would have liked to see more graphics card options than just the integrated Intel X3100 and dedicated ATI Radeon HD 3450. Issues like lack of VGA cable screw posts, dedicated docking station connector, or lack of a simple RAM expansion cover are minor, and many experienced users may find the all-in-one access panel on the bottom of the notebook to be extremely helpful. The pre-configured model we tested suffered from weak integrated graphics that ruined an otherwise enjoyable experience, but configurations with dedicated graphics are available from Dell.com.

When we talk about performances of Dell Studio 1535 we must say that they have two faces. Better one shows itself while using CPU intensive applications because of newest Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.1GHz. Integrated graphics can be used for playing older games but you can forget on playing any of newer game releases. There are models equipped with ATi 3450 graphics card but even this card is not suitable for newest games, it performs much better than Intel X3100. Good news is that Studio 1535 has 2GB of RAM.

Quite frankly, we were surprised to find a Dell Studio laptop on the shelves at Staples. We would have guessed that as Dell's upscale, entertainment-focused laptop line, the Studio would have ceded shelf space to Dell's mainstream Inspiron line. Both laptop lines are present at the office-supply store, however, and representing the Studio line is the Studio 1555 (4285MBU) ($749.98), a 15.6-inch desktop replacement. With its long-lasting battery, useful feature set, and functional design, the Dell Studio 1555 is still the 15.6-inch laptop to beat.

On first look i found that the build quality was better than expected, I had read a fiew reviews by owners that thebase was flimsy and so was the keyboard. I have found this to be quite solid and i can see no flex at all. The keyboard is very responsive and a pleasure to use, although i find that some of the keys give a slight squeeking noise when pressed. I intend to get a backlit keyboard sometime soon so that should fix the squeeking problem. A great all rounder laptop that should full-fill the needs of most, Not to over priced and has some good choices when configuring to buy.

Today we're looking at it again in its retail incarnation, which is on sale for £599. If you buy the Dell Studio 1555 from your local hardware emporium you won't be disappointed, it's fundamentally a very good laptop with especially good battery life. With a street price of $900, the Dell Studio 1558 offers a very compelling laptop package. Performance and battery life are good but the design still retains the same Studio 15 chassis that has been used for some time. Many of the best features Dell offers such as the WLED displays are optional which can raise the price up. Still, it is a good basic system for those wanting a solid performing system with some upgraded but not gaming caliber graphics.

Texas merkezli şirket dünya genelinde 82700 kişiye iş imkanı sunmakta. 2006 yılında şirket Alienware’i satın aldı. Çoğu ülkede laptoplar direk Dell tarafından satılmakta ve farklı konfigrasyon seçenekleri sunulmakta. 2007 yılında (IDC tarafından yapılan araştırmaya göre) ki Pazar payları: HP 18.9 %, Dell 16.4 %, Acer 9.9 %, Lenovo 7.5 %, Apple 5.7 %

Dell İnceleme

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Ofis, internet, şekil düzenleme ve video editleme gibi işlemler herhangi bir kısıtlama olmadan bu grafik kartları ile yapılabilir.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450: HD 2400 grafik kartının 55nm ile (bu sayede daha yüksek saat hızı) üretilmiş, DirectX 10.1 desteği veren yeni serisi. Avivo HD video desteği gpu’nun HD videoları decode etmesine olanak sağlıyor. Nadir oyun oynayan kullanıcılar için ideal(performans gerektiren oyunlar ancak çok düşük detaylarda çalıştırılabilir.).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GM45 çipsetine (Montevina) kurulmuş, onboard (paylaşımlı) grafik kartı. 2 adet daha fazla shadera sahip olması ve daha yüksek saat hızından ötürü GMA X3100 den oldukça hızlı. Yinede oyuncular için (DirectX 10 oyunları oynanamaz, oynansa bile çok düşük detaylarda) önerilebilir olduğu söylenemez. Dahili video işlemcisi, düşük hızlı işlemcilere HD video decode (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) işlemleri sırasında yardımcı olarak Blu-Ray medyaların akıcı şekilde oynatılmasını sağlıyor.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570:

64bit memory bus’a sahip, düşük sınıf GPU ve shader sayısına sahip yüksek saat hızlı grafik kartı. Masaüstü Radeon 4550 benzeri. Avivo HD ve DirectX 10.1 desteği mevcut.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics:

Bu tür grafik kaetları oyunlar için pek ideal değil. Eğer bir oyunu çalıştıracak olurlarsa ya grafiksel hatalarla ya da düşük frame oranlarıyla çalıştırabilirler. Oyuncular için uygun değiller. Ofis ve internet ise oyunların aksine bu GPU lar için sorun değil.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.

Core 2 Duo Laptop işlemcileri masa üstü işlemcilerle benzer. Sadece daha düşük voltaj ile çalışmakta (0.95 Volt - 1188 Volt) ve daha düşük frontside bus saat hızına sahip (1066 MHz karşı 667 MHz). Aynı hıza sahip olsalarda laptop Core 2 Duo işlemcileri masa üstü versiyonlarına oranla daha düşük frontside bus ve yavaş hard disklerinden ötürü 20 - 25% daha yavaş.

T8300: Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 ilk lansmanı yapıldığında hızlı sayılan işlemcilerden biri idi. 3 MB level 2 Cache kapasitesine sahip.

T6400:

Penryn çekirdeği tabanlı, 2MB level 2 Cache kapasiteli, düşük saat hızlı dual core işlemci.

P8600: Hızlı ama halen pahalı olan Dual Core işlemci. Çoğu oyun ve uygulama için yeterli olmakla beraber 25 Wattlık güç tüketimi ile küçük laptoplarda bile kullanılabilmekte.

Intel Core i7:

720QM: Core i7-720QM, 2009 yılı içerisinde karşımıza Core i7 Quad çekirdeğin en yavaş üyesi olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. 1.6 ile 2.8 GHz aralığındaki saat hızı ile yavaş bir 4 çekirdekli işlemci olmakla beraber hızlı bir tek çekirdekli işlemci olmanın özelliklerinin avantajlarına sahip. Daha hızlı Core i7 işlemcilerle kıyaslandığında 720QM sadece 6MB L3 Cache kapasitesine sahip.

Intel Core i5:

520M: I7-640M ile kıyaslanıldığında i5-520M sadece 3 MB L3 Cache kapasitesibe ve 2.4 – 2.93 GHz aralığında saat hızına sahip. Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı olarak işlenebilmekte. GMA HD 3150 ile beraber DDR3 bellek kontrolörü de pakete dahil.
