The upgradability is one of the few disadvantages of the device. The memory is soldered but you can configure the laptop with up to 32GB of LPDDR5-6400MHz memory which should be enough for most people. For storage, there is only one M.2 slot that is compatible with Gen 4 SSDs. At the end of the day, the Acer Aspire 5 (A514-56M) is a machine that doesn’t cost much but it can be picked with efficient and potent CPUs, a PWM-free display, and a comfortable keyboard and touchpad.
