With a street price of $329.99 it’s affordable and offers decent longevity away from the mains. Anybody with ambitions beyond basic browsing and media playback should look to something more powerful, but for mainstream use the D255 is perfectly sufficient.

Prices are under $300 and weight around 2.4 pound. The sacrifices for price and weight come at the cost of both running time and storage capacity. The result is a trade off that will work for those that don't need the storage space or long running times but if you need it, there are other options available.

The dual-boot mode is interesting, and no doubt the future for many devices, but there seems no clear use for it at present beyond a way of siloing off different types of data between the two. The price is good but not cheap enough compared to other netbooks to really stand out.

The partnering of Android with Windows 7 still doesn’t appeal to us. The Android OS is tempting but ultimately doesn’t really offer enough to get excited about. We’d rather boot straight into Windows 7, which offers much better performance. Fortunately Acer offer simple control over the Android side of things so you can opt to disable it if you like.
Otherwise the build quality and choice of materials isn’t premium, but the performance overall is great for a compact device to take on the road with you.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Dahili (paylaşımlı bellekli) Intel Atom N4xx serisi işlemcilerde kullanılan grafik kartı. Eski GMA 950lere nazaran biraz daha hızlı ve bu yüzden 3D oyunlar veya HD videolar için uygun değil (sadece MPEG2 desteği mevcut)

Intel Atom:
Intel Atom serisi 64-Bit bir işlemci olup UMPC ve MID türü gibi küçük notebooklar için ucuz bir işlemci alternatifidir. Yeni mimarinin özelliği “in order” uygulamasını kullanması. Böylece transistor sayısı azaltılıp, daha ucuz bir üretim mümkün.
N550: Sadece 8.5 Watt güç tüketimi olan Dual Core Atom işlemci. 1.5 GHz gibi düşük saat hızından ötürü bazen N465 Atom işlemciden bile daha yavaş.
N450: GMA 3150 GPU ve dahili bellek kontrolörüne sahip Netbooklar için üretilen Intel Atom serisi işlemci. Sistem performansı Atom N280 / GMA 950 kombinasyonundan sadece biraz daha hızlı.
