It’s hard to see who Asus’s supercar laptop tie-ups are aimed at. If you have the money to buy a Ferrari, a Porsche or, in this case, a Lamborghini, will you really be going for a £1,700 portable to remind you what’s in the garage. If you drive a lowered Golf with blue neons underneath, wouldn’t you want a VW laptop? We guess the Asus VX5 is all about aspiration. A high performance, Blu-ray, HD-capable laptop with the extra panache of the Lamborghini tie-in.

Asus' quad core monster is for the privileged only. The Lamborghini VX range represents the top of Asus' laptop line and the VX5 (£1999 inc. VAT) is the latest model. With a 16-inch screen, it's large enough to use as a multimedia centre and desktop replacement, yet still offers portability. With its high price, the Lamborghini VX5 is for those seeking a designer laptop, but that doesn't mean it's a bad product. With terrific performance and a standout design, it makes a highly impressive desktop replacement.

The Lamborghini outdoes the Ferrari only in encoding/decoding music files and video. But the Ferrari’s slight advantage shouldn’t be taken as any kind of slight on the Asus Lamborghini: its price is good, the performance is good and features – including USB 3.0 – are well-specced. And it’s more readily available than the Ferrari One. The Asus EeePC Lamborghini VX6 is a 12.1in netbook you’d be pleased to use, and the only drawback, for some, may be the wrong logo on the lid.

Lamborghini has come together with Asus to launch the Eee PC VX6. Just in case you were wondering, we are talking a netbook here, not a sports car and there's no endorsement from KP! The VX6 is among the highest performance netbooks around right now. Battery life is better than on the Asus 1215N but it is also more expensive.

I wouldn’t buy this netbook for one simple reason; the price is too high for a netbook with an Atom processor. I’d rather buy an entry-level laptop like the Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 or the something similar, where I get a proper 14-inch screen and the laptop can play full-HD movies, not to mention that it would have an Intel Core i3 CPU. This is a niche product that could attract either brand-conscious users or people who need something portable, feature rich and cool to carry around. At the end of the day, it’s an expensive netbook. It deserves an above average rating solely due to the features, performance and overall quality. The price is ridiculous.

While some will balk at paying $200 more than the similarly specked ASUS Eee PC 1215N, we like the Lamborghini styling and small touches like the soft-touch palm rest and recessed chrome hinges. We also appreciate the USB 3.0 ports, which enables lightning-fast backups and future-proofs your investment somewhat. If you're a car enthusiast or just want to carry a netbook that really stands out, the Eee PC VX6 is definitely worth a look.

The Asus Lamborghini VX6 sells at an MRP of Rs. 43,000. Let us keep the Lamborghini branding aside for a moment (we know that there will be a time when the charm's ultimately going to wear off). This laptop is better than the previous 12-inch ION-powered ASUS netbook in two respects - a dual-core Atom processor and the USB 3.0 ports. Otherwise, it is more or less the same in terms of functionality. The VX6 falls in a weird category. It is far too expensive to be called a netbook. If your objective is to watch hi-def movies and have moderately powerful internals under the hood, then 40 grand can also fetch you the 13-inch variant of the Acer Timeline X 4820T we tested; if you're willing to let go of the car-branding. From an individual stand-point, the VX6 left me a little dissatisfied on a few counts like the battery life and lacking Optimus tech (which could've improved the battery life). If you insist on buying a 12-inch netbook, then the 1201NL worth Rs. 27,000 will do almost everything the VX6 can, except for the USB 3.0 high-speed data transfers.

So, is the Asus VX6 Lamborghini worth the fuss? Well, that's for you to decide. I can say that it is fast for a mini laptop and looks great. Pricing is high, but that's the case with all limited editions and branded devices, like this one. Too bad It doesn't come in yellow though, I would really dig that color option.

With ultra-low power laptops approaching netbook levels of battery life (and in some cases surpassing it) and with tablets usurping the netbook's traditional role as companion device, netbooks need to do something different to stand out. Despite the styling and the Lamborghini branding, the VX6 remains an Eee in wolf's clothing. You're paying a premium price for something that could be bought a lot cheaper elsewhere, and no matter how fancy the looks, the fact that this is a 32-bit Atom with only 2GB of RAM and no GPU shows as soon as you try to run any demanding applications. Sadly then, the NV6 doesn't even reach go-cart levels, despite its sports car looks - instead it's just a die-cast children's' toy sat in the window of the show room.

Asus: ASUSTEK Bilgisayar anonym şirketi Tayvan asıllı uluslararası bir şirket olup; anakart, grafik kartları, optic sürücüler, PDAlar, bilgisayar monitörleri, notebooklar, serverlar, network ürünleri, bilgisayar kasa ve bileşenleri üretmektedir. Şirketin 2007 gelirleri 6.9 milyar dolar olarak açıklanmıştır. ASUS aynı zamanda diğer üreticiler için bileşenlerde üretmektedir. 2008 yılında Eee PC netbook dünyasında büyük bir patlama gerçekleştirmiştir.

Asus İnceleme

Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M:

GeForce GT 130M, GeForce 9650M GT’nin saat hızı arttırılmış ve biraz daha düşük TDP değerine sahip (9600M GT ile aynı seviyelerde) versiyonu. Performans kullanılan belleğe göre (DDR3 1066 MHz ve DDR 600 MHz’ye kadar) değişmekte. PhysX sadece SLI konfigrasyonunda desteklenmekte.

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Intel Core 2 Quad:

Q9000: Düşük say hızına sahip 4 çekirdekli işlemci özellikle oyunlarda bu yüzden kötü performans vermekte. Bu yüzden oyunlardan daha çok çok komutlu uygulamalar için ideal.

Intel Atom:

Intel Atom serisi 64-Bit bir işlemci olup UMPC ve MID türü gibi küçük notebooklar için ucuz bir işlemci alternatifidir. Yeni mimarinin özelliği “in order” uygulamasını kullanması. Böylece transistor sayısı azaltılıp, daha ucuz bir üretim mümkün.

D525: Nettoplar için düşünülen ama aynı zamanda Netbooklarda da kullanılan dual core Atom işlemci. D525 dahili DDR2/DDR3 bellek kontrolörüne ve GMA3150 grafik çekirdeğine sahip. SpeedStep teknolojisi olmadığı için batarya kullanım süresi Atom işlemcilerden daha kısa.
