If you are a fan of the classic arcade game you will love OnePlus Nord 2 × Pac-Man Edition, a refreshingly enhanced version of the Nord 2 which I rated the best smartphone you can buy in Ireland for less than €450 when I reviewed it here. The fantastic new version of the superfast handset is a collab with gaming powerhouse BANDAI NAMCO Europe S.A.S. It’s not just a fresh lick of paint on the outside, as there is customised user experience in everyday use along with fun games, challenges and exclusive Pac-Man content. It all combines to ensure that anyone who buys one of these devices will feel like they have got their hands on something special. I’ve been testing the device for a week and I’ll outline the key changes compared to the standard Nord 2 below….

OnePlus Nord 2 Pac-Man Edition review: This powered up flagship challenger returns with a retro gaming twist

Unfortunately, there’s no IP rating for the Nord 2's water and dust resistance, so try to keep it safe and dry. There’s nothing old fashioned about this screen, rocking a 6.43-inch OLED display with a decent FHD resolution of 1080 x 2400, which isn’t the highest around, but it was still great for films, browsing the web and gaming. The bezels on this screen are minor, and the bottom one is slightly more noticeable, it’s not enough to be annoying or hamper use but it does give the phone a Nord 2 a slight chin. The screen is bright and sharp, with good contrast and colours pop and can even be further increased with vivid mode making it ideal for watching films and playing games. The Nord 2 even offers HDR 10 support which keeps your highlights bright, and your darks clear and black. Also, if you are a gamer (and if you own this phone that is a fair assumption) it also supports a refresh rate of 90Hz, so the visual will look nice and smooth and while it’s not as high as some 120Hz devices it’s also less battery intensive.

It also bundles a special LEGO-styled building blocks DIY mobile holder if you purchase the phone from the OnePlus store. What’s also interesting is its design, the glowing fluorescent neon back is impressive and unique, and it definitely grabs one’s attention. However, it carries the same hardware as the standard variant, the performance, the cameras, and fast charging capabilities are all from its standard variant, costing ₹3,000 additional compared to the top-end variant of the standard edition. Aside from these, the OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition offers exceptional performance, great cameras with OIS support, stereo sound experience, and super-fast 65W charging with incredible charging speeds.
