Around the edges of the Aspire, you'll find the afore-mentioned Blu-ray drive, as well as four USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, FireWire, eSATA/USB 2.0, an SD card slot and microphone and speaker audio connections. The unit also has a fingerprint reader and a webcam. We wish it had an ExpressCard slot, which could come in handy if you ever want to add USB 3.0, for example, but overall it's a great set of features.

Aside from the wireless issue, the $1,599 Acer Aspire 8943G pleases with its combination of a clean, modern design and multimedia maven-pleasing features. Though the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890 is a better performer in the 18-inch category, it's less attractive and costs $1,899. If you're looking to save a little cash and don't need the extra power, the Aspire 8943G is a good choice. However, until Acer resolves the sporadic wireless connectivity, we can't recommend this system. We'll update our review once a fix from the company becomes available.

When we first reviewed the Acer Aspire 8943g back in July of 2010, we concluded that this huge-screen desktop replacement had the power and components to satisfy multimedia enthusiasts and gamers alike. Entertainment laptop meets gaming rig in this Aspire. You get very good performance on all fronts, especially if you need a combined playtime/workday PC.

Acer's Aspire Ethos is certainly a desktop replacement class system as it is certainly larger and heavier than many laptops. In exchange for portability, it offers some solid performance thanks to a quad core processor, fast graphics processor and larger high resolution display.

Acer: Acer, Tayvan kökenli bir uluslararası elektronik üreticisidir. Ürün aralığı masaüstü bilgisayarlardan laptoplara, PDA’lerden server ve saklama cihazlarına kadar, eğitimden, devlet ve ev kullanıcılarının hizmerine sunduğu ürünlerle değişiklik gösterir. Acer, Dünya’da 3. en büyük (satış rakamlarına göre) üreticidir. Şirket, Tayvanda orjinal adı Multitech olan en büyük bilgisayar şirletinin sahibidir. Gateway ve Packerd Bell markaları ekonomik olarak Acer’a bağlıdır. 2007 yılında (IDC tarafından yapılan araştırmaya göre) ki Pazar payları: HP 18.9 %, Dell 16.4 %, Acer 9.9 %, Lenovo 7.5 %, Apple 5.7 %
Oyun oynamak isteyen kullanıcılar için en son seçenek. Yeni oyunlar bu kartlarda çalışacaktır, ama sadece düşük detaylar ve orta çözünürlükte.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850: HD 5850, HD 5870’in daha düşük saat hızına sahip GDDR5 bellekli yüksek seviye grafik kartı. Masaüstü 5770 çipine sahip ama daha düşük saat hızı ile.
Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650: 15-20 Watt aralığında güç tüketiminde bulunan Eyevision destekli orta sınıf DirectX 11 uyumlu grafik kartı.

Intel Core i7:
820QM: Core i7-820QM, Turbo modu sayesinde 1.73-3.06 GHz aralığında saat hızına ulaşabilen laptop işlemcisi. Hyperthreading eş zamanlı 8 komutun işlenmesine olanak sağlamakta.
720QM: Core i7-720QM, 2009 yılı içerisinde karşımıza Core i7 Quad çekirdeğin en yavaş üyesi olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. 1.6 ile 2.8 GHz aralığındaki saat hızı ile yavaş bir 4 çekirdekli işlemci olmakla beraber hızlı bir tek çekirdekli işlemci olmanın özelliklerinin avantajlarına sahip. Daha hızlı Core i7 işlemcilerle kıyaslandığında 720QM sadece 6MB L3 Cache kapasitesine sahip.
620M: Core i7-620M 2010 yılı ilk çeyreğinde tanıtıldığında laptoplar için en hızlı işlemci olarak karşımıza çıktı. 620M, 2.66 and 3.33 GHz aralığındaki saat hızına Turbo modu ile ulaşabilmekte. Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı işlenebilmekte. Pakete Intel tarafından ayrıca GPU (GMA HD) ve bir bellek kontrolörü eklenmiş. Bu yüzden 35 Wattlık güç tüketimi tüm paket için iyi sayılabilir.
740QM:
Core i7-740QM 2010 yılında laptoplar için üretilen üst sınıf quad core işlemci olup Turbo Boost ile tek çekirdekte maksimum 2.93 GHz saat hızına ulaşabilmekte. Bu sayede düşük hıza sahip quad core işlemci hızlı tek çekirdeli işlemcilerin avantajınıda sunmakta. Daha hızlı i7 mobil işlemcilerle kıyaslandığında 740QM sadee 6MB L3 Cache kapasitesine sahip.
Intel Core i5:
450M:
Core i5-520M benzeri AES fonksiyonlarından yoksun işlemci.
430M: Core i5-430M orta sınıf 3MB Level 3 Cache kapasitesine sahip 2.26-2.53GHz saat hızına sahip laptop işlemcisi. VT-d, Trusted Execution ve bazı AES özelliklerinden yoksun işlemcide Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı işlenebilmekte. Intel HD Grafik çözümü ve DDR3 bellek kontrolörü pakete dahil edilmiş.
Intel Core i3:
330M: Core i3-330, 350M’e göre saat hızı düşürülmüş bir işlemci, saat hızı 2.13 GHz olmakla beraber Turbo Boost özelliğine sahip değil. Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı işlenebilmekte. Dahili GMA HD 3150 ve DDR3 bellek kontrolörüde dahil edilmiş.
