The thinnest and lightest desktop replacement yet combines great graphics performance with a stunning display and very long battery life. With a starting price of $2,799, the 17-inch MacBook Pro isn’t for your average consumer (unless they’re a Mac enthusiast with very deep pockets). Rather, it’s for creative professionals and power users who crave the performance and switchable graphics of the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but a larger, richer display. Fortunately, thanks to an impressively lightweight design and long battery life, users can enjoy the stunning 17-inch display without having to compromise much in the way of portability. Some Windows machines offer better bang for your buck if you’re not as concerned with endurance. The $1,804 Dell XPS 16, at 6.8 pounds, is heavier, and provides much shorter battery life, but offers lots of style and power for almost a grand less, as well as a gorgeous RGB display. But for those who have the money, the 17-inch MacBook Pro is a superior desktop replacement with epic battery life that you can take almost anywhere.

It wasn't the netbook that Mac fanboys were hoping for, however for those who need a big screen and long battery on the move this is a great improvement over the previous model bringing in features that new 15-inch MacBook Pro users have been enjoying for some time. If the promised 8 hours delivers (Apple says you'll get a 60% improvement on the previous version), it will impress, however personally the thought of lugging around something so large to use on the train or plane means this isn't likely to be one for us.

Stylistically, Apple’s new MacBook Pro is a success, and the design is matched by fine performance elsewhere, but you’re paying a premium for that Apple logo and the slick finish. Mac users will already have put their old MacBook up on eBay – and rightly so – but given the problems we encountered with Windows Vista, we’d recommend PC users hold off before they consider taking the plunge.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, DirectX 10 uyumlu GeForce Go 7600 GT serisinin yeni nesil modeli. Grafik belleğine ve çekirdek hızına bağlı olarak performansı 7600 GT ile 7900 GS arasında denebilir. Böylece F.E.A.R., Supreme Commander veya Company of Heroes gibi oyunlar yüksek çözünürlük ve detaylarda akıcı bir şekilde oynanabilir. Yine de shader gücü DirectX 10 efektlerini tam kullanan Crysis gibi oyunları çalıştırmaya yeterli değil ( Crysis düşük detaylarda ancak akıcı oynanabilir). Her defasında en üstün frame oranları elde etmek oyuncular 8800M almalılar.

Sadece eski oyunlar bu grafik kartları ile akıcı bir şekilde (eğer yüksek bir sistem gereksinimi duymuyorlarsa) oynanabilir. Bu kategorideki paylaşımlı grafik çekirdekleri az ısınma ve daha uzun batarya ömrü gibi avantajlara sahip. Intel Core 2 Duo: Daha fazla tüketime ihtiyaç duymayan ve daha uzun aktarım hatlarına sahip Core Duo ve Core Solo işlemcilerin yeni nesli. Core Duo dizanynına ek olarak 4. bir decoder, güçlendirilmiş SSE unitesi ve ek Aritmetik mantık ünitesi ( ALU ) mevcut.

Core 2 Duo Laptop işlemcileri masa üstü işlemcilerle benzer. Sadece daha düşük voltaj ile çalışmakta (0.95 Volt - 1188 Volt) ve daha düşük frontside bus saat hızına sahip (1066 MHz karşı 667 MHz). Aynı hıza sahip olsalarda laptop Core 2 Duo işlemcileri masa üstü versiyonlarına oranla daha düşük frontside bus ve yavaş hard disklerinden ötürü 20 - 25% daha yavaş.

T9300: T9400 ile benzer performansa sahip ama daha düşük FSB hızı olan orta sınıf laptop işlemcisi.
