The phones are dependable, predictable and designed for people who want a Samsung experience without paying flagship money. The A17 continues that philosophy, but this time, it feels a bit more refined rather than revolutionary. Starting at Rs 18,999 for the base 6GB + 128GB variant and going up to Rs 23,499 for the top 8GB + 256GB model, the Galaxy A17 sits right in the same competitive Rs 20,000 bracket where phones like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Moto Edge 60 Fusion are fighting tooth and nail for attention. On paper, Samsung hasn’t reinvented the formula, but it has added polish where it matters.

But for a good display, Samsung’s UI and long-term updates, the A17 is worth considering.

It handles social media and calls well, and the battery lasts long with One UI making it easy to use. However, performance is not good enough, as it uses the Exynos 1330 chipset from the A14 5G three years ago.

The Galaxy A17 5G is meant to be a low-priced phone with a decent design and long software support from Samsung, but at its current pricing, it's far from competitive in its price bracket. You can easily find more powerful smarrtphones with longer battery life, faster charging and brighter displays with HDR support. Perhaps the biggest issue we had with the Galaxy A17 5G is how laggy it is. It's important to note that this is our experience with the 4GB variant. It's possible that the 6GB version has it much better. The poor performance now also raises the question of how Samsung will be able to keep this phone up to date with newer software versions, which will likely be more demanding of the hardware.
